Find the model—not just the brand
Look at the front or top of the printer, its identification label or its settings. Include any letters at the end of the model name. The serial number identifies your individual machine and is not normally the product search term you need.
Work out whether you need ink or toner
Inkjet printers use ink; laser printers use toner. If you are unsure, check the printer documentation or the supplies already fitted. Do not assume that every cartridge-shaped part is toner: some laser printers also have a separate drum.
Use the old cartridge as a cross-check
Note the code and colour from the current cartridge or packaging. Search by that code or the full printer model, then check the product lists your machine. A previous incorrect cartridge is not reliable evidence of compatibility.
Compare the details that matter
Check colour, pack quantity, standard or high-yield capacity and whether the listing is for an original or alternative cartridge. Read the complete product description before checkout.
No clear match? Ask before ordering
Small differences between model names can matter. If searching by model and code gives conflicting results, call 0161 738 1066 with both details. For advice articles rather than products, use the WordPress blog.
Common questions
Can I search with a partial printer name?
You can try it, but a partial name may show products for several models. Confirm the full model before purchasing.
What if I have several printers?
Make a separate note of each full model and required colour or cartridge code. For workplace supply enquiries, use Cartridge Care Manchester.
